Dan started his career in law enforcement in 1985 for the City of Alcester as a patrol officer.  In 1986 Dan was promoted to chief of police and then accepted a position with Union County Sheriff’s Office in 1989.  In 1990 Dan took out a petition for sheriff and was elected to his 1st term in 1991, since then Sheriff Limoges has been reelected to 5 terms.  Sheriff Limoges oversees the law enforcement needs of Union County along with managing a 24 hour dispatch center, and a 24 hour 52 bed jail.  The total staffing includes 6 full time deputies, 7 full time 911 operators and 9 fulltime and 3 part-time correctional officers, and 1 full time secretary.  Sheriff Limoges is active in the community through membership in the Lion’s Club, South Dakota Sheriff’s Association of which he was president in 2005.  In his spare time he enjoys riding his motorcycle, 4 wheeling and spending time with his family.  Dan is married and has two children.
